Critical Success
A critical success in Daggerheart RPG occurs when both Duality Dice roll the same number, granting Hope and clearing Stress.
When both Duality Dice land on the same number — doubles — you score a critical success. This always counts as rolling with Hope, even if your total wouldn't normally beat the Difficulty.
On top of earning Hope, a critical success lets you clear one Stress from your character sheet, relieving some of the pressure on your hero.
If the crit happens on an attack roll, you also deal bonus damage — a satisfying reward for a lucky throw.
On a reaction roll: a critical success does not clear Stress or gain Hope, but you ignore any remaining effects that would still hit you on a normal success (such as reduced damage or marking Stress).
