Stress

Stress in Daggerheart RPG – mental and physical strain tracked on your character sheet. All classes start with 6 slots, max 12.

Stress reflects the mental and physical strain your character endures during adventures. All classes start with 6 Stress slots, upgradable to a maximum of 12 as you level up.

When you mark your last Stress slot, you become Vulnerable until you clear at least one. If all slots are full and you're told to mark more, you lose 1 Hit Point instead — regardless of how much Stress was demanded.

Sources of Stress

  • Adversaries: enemy actions that demoralize or exhaust you.
  • Complications: GM-assigned consequences when a roll goes sideways.
  • Your own moves: some abilities cost Stress to activate (can't stack on the same feature).

You can't use a move that costs Stress if you have no slots left to mark.
